In May, all the Broodje OUTside events are held in the open-air theatre (see no. 56). As long as the weather cooperates, of course! If it rains, we’ll move inside. We will announce any change to the venue on the website on Monday morning, and send an e-mail message to our subscribers. No news is good news, and you can attend the performance outside.
Tango Extremo brings a distinctive flavour to the passion and persuasion of the Argentine Tango. Since its inception in 2003, the ensemble has made remarkable development. Since then, its five musicians have become synonymous with the group’s familiar sound in the Netherlands and abroad. Incidentally, the group has performed in countries across the world, such as Argentina, China, Russia, South Africa, South Korea, as well as in Europe in countries such as Spain, Italy, Ireland and the UK.
During the Buenos Aires Tango Festival in August 2009, Tango Extremo was the only non-Argentine ensemble at one of the most prestigious tango festivals in the world. Apart from performances in their home country, the Netherlands, the ensemble is planning performances in Aruba, China, Colombia, Curaçao, Egypt, Latvia and Venezuela.
VIVA LA VIDA!
Tango Extremo’s latest project! On tour from January 2011! What can you expect from its program? ‘Viva la Vida!’ is a tribute to love and to life in its strength and its fragility. The happy moments but also the less fortunate. The sun but also the shadow. In other words: life in all its ways. As you probably know by now, the Quinteto Tango Extremo has musically always set out its own path and this project is a testimony to their attitude to music. Besides typical tango themes, you will come across traditional Dutch songs like “Het Dorp” by Jean Ferrat and famous classics like Tchaikovsky’s “Swan Lake”, but all in beautiful tango.
Tanya Schaap – Violin and leader
Ben van den Dungen – Sopraan saxphone
Rob van Kreeveld – Piano
Matias Pedrana – Bandoneon
Adinda Meertins – Contrabass
