The Supervisory Council’s main task is to supervise and advise the board.
It is appointed and dismissed by the Participants Council and is composed of five to nine members. There are specific positions within the council to ensure a broad representation. Two positions are reserved for members from outside the Student Union such as faculty deans and people from the business sector. One position is reserved for the University of Twente’s Governing Board. These people ensure continuity, have an objective point of view and contribute significant knowledge and experience. The Supervisory Council meets with the Board once a month to discuss their main responsibilities such as:
Should any problems arise between an association and the SU Board an attempt will be made to solve it internally. Should this prove unsuccessful after multiple attempts, the Supervisory Council may be informed. The Supervisory Council will then decide on further course of action, which could be solving the problem with the board and the organisation in question internally after all, or calling the arbitration committee into action.
